The band had no trumpet section, substituting strings instead. Ruby frequently featured himself on violin solos. In 1936, Ruby and the band showed up at New York's Rainbow Grill and stayed a short while before heading back to Massachusetts where he eventually became a very wealthy man. His band was a very musical and pleasant outfit, recording for RCA Victor and Decca, and even played at several 'White House' (US President's official home) functions during WWII.
